Ryder System Certified Driver Trainer in FORT WORTH, Texas

Position Description

The Certified Driver Trainer is primarily responsible for training and providing guidance to newly hired drivers and/or drivers transferring to new accounts with limit experience. Provides instruction and guidance to other drivers on safely operating various types of commercial vehicles, support equipment, PPE, safety requirements, and requires compliance with safety & DOT Regulations, continuous training and customer service. When not on active training assignments CDT's will be assigned to various internal accounts in a driving capacity to maintain driving proficiency and learn new driver roles in order to better serve in as a CDT.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years or more Extensive knowledge and experience operating various types of commercial vehicles and support equipment (ex: pallet jack, hand truck, moffett, fork lift, etc.)

  • Leadership skills and willingness to learn

  • Must work well in a team environment

  • Observation skills with aptitude to provide constructive feedback

  • Understanding of stop work authority and ability to:

  • Identify and avoid unsafe work practices

  • Communicate clearly and effectively

  • Follow written and/or oral instructions

  • Read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures

  • DOT Safety Regulated Position, Regulated Driver Class A

  • Safety Sensitive Position

  • Regulated Driver:

  • Minimum 22 years of age

  • Pass a Ryder Drug Test

  • Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

  • Pass a DOT physical

  • Pass a Ryder road test

  • Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position

  • Must have class A verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle

  • 12 months' experience within the past 3 years, OR

  • 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR

  • 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years

  • Important Note: Additional requirements may be required in different locations and/or accounts

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for offsite and On The Job training of newly hired drivers and/or drivers transferring to new accounts throughout the Ryder network

  • Report to various Ryder locations to learn and understand individual account operations in order to teach and train others on standard operating procedures and safety practices

  • Produce progress reports for assigned learning tasks and current trainees

  • Regional travel required. Short-term to long-term assignments depending on account requirements and needs.

  • Support local accounts in a driver role when not on an active training assignment

  • Meet continuous education requirements

  • Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines

  • Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards Maintaining accurate records and logs

  • Loading/Unloading freight or assisting in the loading/unloading of freight if required by customer

  • Performs other duties as assigned
